Complete change of Role
Discussion
Hey PHs
I’ve been a mechanic for over 25 years and still love the job, I’ve recently had a injury at work and its got me thinking “do I really want to be doing this when I’m 70” if I get there !
I’ve noticed a job as airport ground crew, it’s a bit more money, a lot less hours, great benefits and scope to move up the ladder.
Would anyone else apply for a job they know nothing about ?
Cheers

I suspect your mechanic skills are for life so always there to fall back on.
And I'm guessing, but a mechanic is unlikely to have or need a network of contacts built up over many years which would be wasted if you change direction. Other than perhaps suppliers if you get involved with buying.
So I'd say go for it. Unless there are different, less hands on roles related to your skills and experience you could go for?

I always thought working at an airport would be fun.
Hopefully this comes across in the tone it's meant to but presumably worst case you can decide to look for a role being a mechanic and I'd have thought being in an environment like an airport might open some doors you'd never even considered?
What do you have to lose?
