Hi all

Currently I am working a job I quite like at a really nice company, very happy in my role.

My working week is 36 hrs over 3 days with quite a lengthy commute so it does wipe me out a bit, but it's worth it to have 4 days off every week, particularly while my Mrs is on mat. leave.

I have probably 4 hours I could spare on a couple of my days off where I'd like to do "something" outside of my usual line of work to keep things interesting. A bit of extra cash wouldn't hurt but it's not really my main motivation, as any extra work would take me very close to the 60k threshold and would need to start doing self assessment for child benefit etc so I'd likely just chuck more in to pension and pretax benefits to avoid this.

Not really sure what my question is other than does anyone have some suggestions for some simple preferably home based ideas?

Transferable skills are tricky as I'm in a hands on technical role but I am IT literate.

I've got no imagination so the ideas for some sort of side hustle aren't flowing thick and fast apart from trading a couple of old bangers off my driveway!

Cheers

No idea on ways to earn extra cash but don't forget that if you're close to 60k threshold, if you can, up your pension contributions to bring that down. To me that's win win situation, especially if your company increases their contribution too.

I'll be watching with interest as we could do with a bit more money.

Good luck

I think you’re actually looking for a hobby.

Do you like obsessively cleaning cars? Detailing might be a way to do both? Relatively low start up cost. Start off with family and friends cars to hone your skills. Potentially good side earnings…

Just a thought.
