Sick

I’ve not been sick for years , but have an operation on the 1 st of may , said won’t be able to work for 2/3 months .
Do you still self certificate for a week , I assume hospital will issue sick note , what date will that run from ( rest days are Fri/ sat ) , so would note go from wed 8 th ?

Usually they will give you a note from day 1 in those cases but you can self cert for the first week

Just tell your employer what is happening and see what they require as evidence?

They’ve taken a copy of letter stating when I go in hospital etc , then said ring sick line , I was just wondering when it would be dated from ( thanks above )& for how long

From experience, you'll get a sick note (or a Fit note these days) from the first day of your absence and until the recommended time for you to go back to work.

First day of absence will now be sun 5 th may , I’ve booked 1/2 nd off as hols , 3/4 th are rest days , hopefully hospital will do sick note from 5 th , if it’s from 1 st ( day I go in ) then there maybe a issue .

Nb booked hol 1/2 as didn’t want to be trying to ring sick lines at 5 am & get sick notes in when in hospital / getting to hospital

Went in on the 1st & was given a sick note from the 2nd for 2 weeks ( also says it will be extended by doctor) , and a note saying no heavy lifting for 3 months .
