Yes I know the title is somewhat vague ! However I’m feeling very much at a crossroads and thought the Collective minds of PH might have some suggestions.

From the age of 18 to 34 ish I worked in Supply Chain for various companies and several sectors (retail/engineering/ timber etc) , finally ending as a Senior Buyer for one of the countries leading DIY suppliers.
Then had a sideways move into Motorsport event management and all that entails (always been a hobby and jumped at the chance), and eventually moving back into Motorsport retail supply chain and sales.

I’m of a mind that a change would be a good idea for various reasons, but really puzzled to what area?
There’s a raft of transferable skills, however I’m noticing job adverts are now incredibly specific in the attributes they’re looking for and due to that I’ll fall at the first hurdle.

If you’ve read this far my sincerest thanks and if anyone has any ideas please do share them.

If you’re looking for more cash,I’d be going down the CIPs route and pitching for a senior role in a procurement team within an industry that has decent potential. I know of someone who is a senior category manager in financial services earning low 100s for normal working hours.

If you don’t have the ‘attributes’ for the role you’re looking at, then it may well not be the role for you.

However…many job adverts state a number of essential and desireable skills/experiences and if you don’t have all those but genuinely think you can do the job, you should apply. The reason for this is that many adverts are looking for the perfect employee who actually doesn’t exist, so they’ll be scoring against those that you do have and if you score enough, you may well still get shortlisted.
