Sorry about the rant but just want to know your thoughts…

Been doing my job for 20 years, income is fine and I am my own boss but I can’t work from home.

I wish to have a few more days at home and work in a different field to the current one just to have a mental break from it.

Crazy idea but what about going to train as a mortgage broker or ifa? I know they get a lot of stick here but I thought I could do something different to my job and work from home sometimes.

Mid 40s. I guess I could go part time from my current job but enjoy working. I think I just don’t want to do my job full time anymore.

Any thoughts? Anyone did anything similar? Very random pist I know…

Thanks for your thoughts.

I have recently retired from 40 years in Banking and Financial services.
I have been looking at training to be an IFA , I quite fancy doing it selectively. The training looks ok and achievable , my past employment may make me credible especially for older wealthy people like me . I don't have the wealth part really ! The liability insurance looks like an absolute killer , I did some looking and it appears to be many multiples of 10,s of thousands per year. I did a quick quote and got £60 k as a premium.

That’s interesting! I suppose a career change later in life is hard. Need to think outside the box. For me us not so much income but a rebalancing if work-life and also do something on a completely different field which is good for the mind sometimes.
