Hello all

currently between contracts and after sitting home alone behind a desk for the last 5 years i really really need a break .

ive been looking at some random jobs to get me out the house and also be physical.

have came to the idea of helping people (the council?) clear old houses , gardens whatever

does anyone know what these jobs are called? ive tried house clearance but find nothing.

or any companies or ideas to get into this for a while until a new contract?

thanks

Plenty of companies offering house clearance services so maybe just approach a few and see if they need any casual labour?

You may wish to contact solicitors firms, because they have to deal with house clearances on behalf of deceased clients and their families.

Try contacting local auction houses, not all of them employ full time drivers

some of the houses you'll clear won't be in the best condition -

this is a rat that got in to an empty house, fell in the bath (which couldn't be drained due to a leak in the waste pipe) it was in there during the last hot spell for a couple of weeks..

And this Gem of a (switched off) fridge..

How easy is to be a heavy plant operator? You mean diggers and jcb driving? I’d have thought that would take a fair bit of training and experience?

I wouldn’t mind having something like that as a back up to be fair if it does pay £20 an hour and is low stress.

House clearers are often at large car boot sales; usually with the largest luton van on the site, off-loading stuff at bargain prices just to get shot of it.
If you go along towards the end of the boot sale when things are a bit quieter, but before they start loading the van, you might find one willing to chat about the business. You may even find one after a bit of casual assistance now and then, which would let you see aspects of the business without committing any money to it.

thankyou for all the suggestions

for some reason ive always been obsessed with pests and filth.

i loved a life of grime (must be late 1990s?) and specifically a mr trebus polish old man who used to climb the scaffolding and be a pest.

this is why ive always questioned about being a pest controller but the wages are shocking.
