Company took over 2 months from initial round to then take me to final round.

Had interview last week and then radio silence. Didn't hear anything till yesterday when company drop me a line saying hope you enjoyed interview, how do you think interview went? We are looking to debrief later this week.

Found out one of my friends who also attended interview got an offer at same time they sent me email.

Why don't they just say I did not get role???

is it possible they could want you for a different (and possibly unadvertised) role?

the time delays don't sound good.
from what you typed I wouldn't automatically think you haven't got a role, if I get more than one good candidate apply for a role I do sometimes take on more than one of them.

they could be buying time to see if your friend accepts the role. If he does its either to give a personaldear join message, or to discuss another role (as mentioned by another poster). If your friend doesnt accept the role, its a place holder to then move to you to offer the role.

But they wanted to feedback to me today so I don't think that is the case of waiting for my friend?

your title says “how do i deal with this?” so my answer is “ignore the back channel feedback from your friend, wait to speak with them and deal with the ball that you’re bowled. in the meantime don’t over think it or overreact”

What makes me describe it as a “back channel” is - if the person wasn’t your friend, you wouldn’t know he’s had an offer. You’re reacting to knowledge you “shouldn’t” have.

Yeah I just find it random that they want to hear my views.

They said theyre looking to debrief at end of week but why ask me for my views

If it’s a job you really wanted, call them & chat. Mention you are disappointed & would like feedback.

My start in a long finance career was calling back and asking why I hadn’t been offered the job. The interviewer, subsequently my manager was impressed that I was keen enough to chase the opportunity even after the initial rejection.

"Enjoyed the interview". Rather odd...

I would reply, feedback will be provided at the "debrief" with your considered assessment, before knowing the final outcome, put across.

Or, if you don't get the job. Just say thanks for the delay, I turned down another role awaiting your debrief as I really wanted this role. laugh Not that they would likely care I'm afraid.

Good employees are hard to find and keep. Always keep that in your head. IMHO

They have not rang me to give feedback one way or other. I have not responded either.

Sit and wait? Clearly if they wanted me I would have had offer

Was this the company offering the £118k package or a different role?

https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&...

Based on the above it sounded like you'd been offered the job....

Are you still at risk of being made redundant?

Still, if all else fails you can always focus on the online surveys
