Company car allowance petrol / diesel or EV
Discussion
Howdy
I have decided I would opt for a car allowance, there are some requirements the vehicle must meet below but I am considering the financial differences and would like your thoughts on this
4 doors
Less then 8 years old
Must be ULEZ
I am a 40 percent tax payer
For petrol / diesel / hybrid the company I work for will pay me a £550 allowance monthly and 28p a mile for fuel
For fully electric the company I work for will pay me a allowance of £700 monthly and 8p a mile for fuel used
Thoughts on if the EV would be justifiable?
I consider a focus for around 11k 1.0t or a similar Volvo V40 T2 these cost around the 8k-10k
The EV I am considering is a Zoe r110 51kwh around the 12k mark
Obviously running costs interms of tax / servicing of the EV is near 0

We have charging points in the offices which are free to use
Circa total 20k miles a year
Any long journeys though? I ask because 8p/mile allowance is probably about 32-40p/kwh but rapid chargers can cost double that. Circa total 20k miles a year
Other than that the electric car allowance sounds a good deal if it fits your usage requirements.
