Any Public Health specialists/grads on here?
Discussion
Evening!
I am a Public Health undergrad student. I know this is a bit of a niche topic at undergrad level but I switched to this course from a more broad field as I was extremely passionate and interested in the topics taught in my course. I am always seeking to go above and beyond in my education, especially in the field of public health and due to the short term dates on my course I would like to occupy my time and gain some good work experience, and hopefully see more of the world too since I am not well travelled, especially within Europe. For that reason I have been seeking internships, I can’t seem to find much offered to undergrads as the majority of interns would be Masters-level.
I was hoping to go back to Switzerland again to intern as I went there to visit UNDP/WHO as part of some research but unfortunately I would not qualify as 1) an undergrad 2) I can’t afford to sustain myself for 12 weeks in a foreign country without economic support.
So hopefully either looking for some summer internships in London or short term abroad
I come from a disadvantaged family and work hard for my own things but I cannot afford to go far unless I can get help from support such as the Turing Scheme or the company/uni themselves
Next year I will hopefully return to Switzerland and again in the third year (both with uni) but that’s still my preferred choice abroad - I was there for a week and smitten with the country! Realistically though, probably London.
If anyone here has experience in the field or is currently working in epi/public health I would love to hear any advice you may have for me and possible ideas on who to contact!
I have a LinkedIn and while it does have information on my course sadly all it has experience wise is information about my various delivery roles and experience driving 3.5 tonne Sprinter lutons
Kind regards!
