I am under investigation at work for posting offensive material on a staff notice board, it wasn’t sexist racist homophobic or violent.
They tralled back through the Cctv to find who put it up, (it was a a4 cartoon).
When I was interviewed I said it was me.
My question is are there rules about the use of cctv in the workplace,
I’d put the cartoon up here but you probably wouldn’t believe me.

They can use CCTV footage for “legitimate reasons”’ one of which is dealing with employee misconduct. Other reasons include safety, crime prevention and legal compliance. You are not in a position of dispute the use of CCTV footage to identify you

No argument about CCTV technicalities will make any difference.

Regardless of whether the CCTV was covert or overt and whether or not they had an appropriate data protection processing notice in place, you admitted to putting the poster up.

How long have you been there? Under two years you don't have unfair dismissal protection.

I kid you not, we haven’t had a pay rise for 2 years and have been told we won’t be getting one, they have also stopped performance related pay.
Hence I thought this apt.

This is the biggest failure. Never admit anything....oh .... too late. OP please tell us, what was it?

Oh, I see it, that's quite funny. Wtf is there to investigate if you admitted it? Are you a valuable employee, easy to get another job?

If you've over 2 years service that alone isn't grounds for a fair dismissal, assuming you're not already on a final warning.
