Change of direction. What to do, in which direction
Discussion
Evening all! I’m a fencer by trade, have been since the tender age of 15, I’m now 31. Last few years have been predominantly agricultural fencing with a tracked knocker, as due to a buggered shoulder that keeps popping out, I’m not the digging machine I once was…
The past few months I’ve really struggled with lower back pain, to the point of walking like I’ve had a brown accident and even had 2/3 days where I’ve been unable to put my socks on, let alone get to work.. so I’ve taken the decision to have a bit of a change while I’m still relatively young…Plus I’ve fallen out of love with the trade recently too, so it’s probably a good time for me to go elsewhere..
Current train of thought is to have an easier time driving diggers, and moxy dumpers, I’ve got a contact who can sort the tickets for that quickly and cheaply, so I’m going to do that anyway just as I think it will be handy to have… I’m also thinking of doing my class 1 HGV (have a fair chunk of driving a unimog and 30ft trailer for work), always had an interest in trucks, but won’t be going down the being away all week route…
My general interest lies with construction, and cars/trucks. I’d like to get into the forestry or demolition side of machine work too…Obviously I’d like to earn as much as possible (which goes without saying) I have my son 3 weekends out of 4, so weekend working is a no from me.
Any tips or suggestions of who to approach, or other ideas of what could be an option would be appreciated. I’m Cambridgeshire based too..
Cheers all!

There's a company near Huntingdon called Envar. They process organic waste into compost on an industrial scale. They are undergoing a pretty major investment programme to increase capacity and have a local-first policy on jobs. They operate no end of big-boys-toy plant and machinery there and whilst not construction per-se, does sort of blend over on the venn diagram of what you're looking for.
I have no idea if they are recruiting but would do no harm in you having a look yourself.
