Hello folks,

I've been dismissed within my probation period. There were no reasons given during the termination meeting. I was only told two things in other meetings; ramp up is slow and I was aggressive in messages (see other thread).

The contract states this;

"three months following commencement of your employment will be your probationary period. Every effort will be made to ensure that you are quickly able to meet the required standards of conduct and performance within the Company . In the event that you fail to meet the required standards of conduct and
performance during this period, the Company will review and make a decision as to whether your continued
employment will be confirmed."

No effort was made by my manager to ensure I meet standards. Nothing is documented either. Is there any benefit is pursuing this?

Either way I am keen to put a complaint in to expose my manager and his poor behaviour

Ignore it and move on. Life is too short and you may feel agrieved but better to pick more worthy battles to fight.

Saw your other thread. Feel sorry for you.
Move on.
I don’t think you have much, if any rights, in the first 2 years.

I have to say this is odd.

Recruitment takes a lot of time and money (advertising/shortlisting/interviewing/training) and the higher the position the more careful you are before appointing.

It seems exceptionally stupid just to "fail" somebody during their probation period (because of all the time and money that's been invested in them).

My take away from this was that the VP was threatened by the capability of the OP so needed to get rid before he was replaced by him.

You won’t have any recourse really.

Any reputable employer would have an appeals process so that somebody “independent” within the company could review the decision but 9 times out of the 10 the original decision will stick anyway.

You don’t have enough service to bring an unfair dismissal claim and from the sounds of it, there hasn’t been any discrimination on the grounds of a protected characteristic.

Nothing stopping you from telling them your line manager was a dhead mind you.

There is always whistleblowing... Not saying the OP has a case mind, but there is a light indication of a potential possibility.....

Bit aggressive there chap.
I do agree with him. He is right to say what he did.

Unfortunately I normally want to get the upper hand but he is right!

I was wondering on what particular point.

Even though I agree with the first response above there is a huge part of me that wants to put in writing my observations and the cock ups I saw. From the VP threatening me to the lack of support. Id love to show the VP for what he is... a spineless yes man to anyone senior and an ass to those that work with him.

What i didn't make clear in my post was I contacted the CFO to tell him about a potential cock up (and I was right). The CFO called the VP. The VP called me and said "don't ever tell the cfo something that makes me ( as the VP) look like a tit". If I tell him about this conversation I'll deny it happened.

That'll do it.
