I sometimes ask myself when working with a certain person ,is it worth all the stress and frustration even though he pays well which is the only reason I do work with him but its only on a part time basis ....I came away yesterday feeling very drained and worn out with a bad headache

I don’t think talking about it would help either but could make it worse
I am supposed to be back with him on Monday but almost said yesterday it’s too stressful having to deal with you so it doesn’t work

He’s not very good at most job anyway and a general messer which talks him way into getting work/big mouth etc

I guess I’m asking at what point is it not worth it

Why is he a moron? Is it his written English?

Is he your boss? You imply that he pays your wages.

If he is such a moron how come he is doing well enough to pay you so well?

The grass is not always greener, but given the current job market it shouldn't be hard to find something else.

That’s true ,Probably his clients dont realise he’s mostly an unskilled moron or perhaps he’s just a good talker . I am a subcontractor for him so it’s mostly part time work.

The quality of the work is usually not that great as it’s rushed or corners cut but that’s not my problem when just doing what I’m told .I could have done a much better job myself for the same price .I guess the things I find most annoying is having to listen to his cods walloping about nothing ,not having enough time to do a proper job and him wasting time titing about only making it worse

I was very tempted to not agree to start the job on Monday morning and walk off

I would suggest that your psychology that you've posted many times about before is at play here.

You've described someone who's employed you to do something that they can't do themselves. That's what bosses do.

He's also paying you well.

These two points suggest that he's a good boss and/or a good businessman.

You may not be able to to work to the level of quality you are capable of but that's not your problem and may not be necessary. Not every job has to be perfect.

This brings us to the issue of him talking codswallop all day. One man's codswallop is another man's banter - something that can make a day pass more quickly and normally, more enjoyably.

I remember you posting previously that you find it difficult to engage in such joviality and I suspect that here is where the issue is and is unfortunately not something that you can easily avoid by swapping jobs.

Did you ever take that 'test'? If you did and you have a diagnosis, then you can ask your employer to turn down the banter and leave you to do the job he's asked you to do. He would be legally required to do this. If you didn't, you can still ask him to leave the banter out of things but would be up to his morals as to whether he did so.

Hi Steve , firstly just to clarify I don’t mind a proper bit of old fashioned banter and makes the day goes better but what I was describing is more cods walloping about his everyday life’s problems or his bad opinions on news type stuff etc he wants to talk about .more an indirect way of childish whinging

Also After finishing late last night I ended up with a migraine which I hadn’t had in a while .I put it down to definitely stress but thought I did well to hold it together for as long as I did .maybe as well because I felt like all the pressure was dumped on me .

I have done several tests now online and none suggested about autism but I’m more aware of it now in general and could spot it in someone

leave if you feel that way.

my current boss and exactly why i am leaving the second i get something.

-makes me go in everyday despite perm staff being hybrid "you are a contractor and rules do not apply so you must go in everyday"
- regular comments. "why do you go to the toilet so much, are you doing work?"
-this formula is wrong. take more care " i havent touched this sheet, this is (previous workers)"
-please make sure your in early tomorrow we have work to do. (does not show. son is ill sorry)
- late signing of time sheets almost every week. i then have to email "did you get a timesheet this week?"

i have 3 times almost stood up and smashed the laptop and monitor and said go *()&)&(*(&*. but held it in.

best part is. they need me more than i need them as im the only one who does what im doing currently.

I had something similar in my previous role. 2 people running millions of pounds worth of projects with a tier 1 contractor. There was so much work and so much pressure to keep pushing on, but for what? Because someone's work ethic told them to keep working harder? There were certainly no targets to hit. It was a toxic environment with a high staff turnover.
Pressure and stress really reveal what a person is like. And it turned out I was working for a dhead. Nice on the surface, but a tt otherwise.

It was poorly paid for the position and amount of work I was delivering. I only took it on to gain experience and to get my foot in the door. There was no option of WFH, no bonus scheme, no benefits, not even a pat on the back to say good job. I was told I had to be sat on my seat working at 8am sharp until hometime. I was barked at constantly by a relic of the British empire. It got to the point where I exclaimed loudly in the office a few times "what are they going to do, sack me?" when I refused to take on more work. I then 'quiet quit' as they now call it. After 6 months of being in the job I was looking to get out, it didn't actually happen for another 6 months after that, but that's moot really.

I eventually quit without having a new job to go to. Chilled out and cracked on with personal projects until something rolled in that I liked the look of. One day I had an even larger company call me up and ask if I could start asap, with a massive increase in pay.

There's so much opportunity out there, there's just no need to accept bullst.

My sister works in a small admin department doing 4-5 jobs which are magazine editing, content editor, social media, graphic design, branding and web design all for £26k for 30 hours a week. There is other employee that deals with the money and accounts etc for the parent company. She has been there for 16 years also on £26k for 30 hours a week.

Last month the board appointed this woman to be the head of this department and also do the finances. But for the last two weeks she has done nothing but sit at a desk and drink tea and chat about her left wing views. She's passed all her work onto the other admin and even refuses to answer the phone if the other employees are on another call. She doesn't know SAGE or know any of the software, not even basic stuff.

The best part is that she is on £40k for 25 hours, nice work if you can get it.

Unless it's something relatively small (like a School/Academy) then the Board (in Public Sector) wouldn't be getting involved in appointing junior staff.

before you leave it might be a good idea to try and work out why they are in this position and what they do differently, taking the emotions out of it. Maybe you can learn something from that, being an unstressed moron in many ways is better than being a stressed but good worker. I'd also be frank with yourself that it isn't anything you are doing that is creating this thought process... is there a way you can change what you are doing in order to insulate yourself from any negative effects of dealing with them in the way you have been.

Snap. I was in this same position. I hated talking to my manager. He is a complete dick.

Problem solved. He failed my probation. Highly likely I would have left. Just needed a different role.

I'm confused, are you being told to work alongside him doing a job, or are you subcontracting for him?
