I'm hoping someone on here could give me some advice.

2 and a half years ago I stopped Bricklaying and got a job in a factory building wooden holiday lodges. I am now looking at getting back into Bricklaying as I would like a better paying job as I'm currently earning relatively little amounts of money compared to what I could be on site.

However there is a problem. My last bricklaying role was as an apprentice and all I did was basically build footings of houses up to the Splash Course, meaning that I have no experience of building around windows, doors and constructing gable ends .
Even during my college hours we didn't really learn anything about doing these things, so I feel as though I am incredibly inexperienced and will have a hard time finding work.

I am looking to join a gang preferably working on site and I am just wondering how I would be able to go about getting back into the trade.

Thanks in advance.

You'd be just what a small gang would want. The hardest part is getting someone keen to your point, the rest can be taught on the job.

Someone with your skill level is ideal for building walls whilst the older lads set the corners and do the cuts. Two brickies with you and a lad would cover some serious m2.

You just need to get out there meeting some gangs, getting on with each other is the hardest part. Building cabins is a mugs game so you're better off out of that racket.
