My wife has a admin job in a NHS trust via an agency as the recruitment process takes so long and they needed someone quickly. She likes the job and they seem to like her, and she will likely apply when they open up the recruitment process.

My question - will they need to open this up to internal/external candidates or can they decide to 'make her permanent so to speak?

Not sure if this will differ from trust to trust either?

My other half is desperate for an admin hire in the NHS (Gloucestershire) but I can check if it would be remote. Thats if she's open to new opps!

From what I know of roles she has hired for in the past with a preferred candidate, they do open it up, but the preferred candidate never loses the job. They open the advert up for a few hours or something similar.

There is remote and then there is remote!

I'm being deliberately vague, but its admin in a specialist non-medical role, and she is becoming increasingly key I feel.

Fingers crossed.

Well, this has gone nowhere. The job has never been advertised.

My wife has been given 7 days notice (by Teams!). They are going to do it differently (I assume outsource the lot as the department has been decimated).

It's all very odd.

Sounds more like temporary funding for the post may have ended.
