Alternating between watching four fourteen year old lads having the time of their lives (in care) followed by trying my best to prevent them killing each other!

I'm home now (in time for second Christmas dinner and avoiding washing up from first Christmas dinner!) But back in at noon tomorrow.

To be fair, they've been predominantly very good, aside from some low-level thievery (each others chocolate!)

A friend of mine is working Xmas, Boxing day and new year for 4x, 3x and 2x pay respectively.

He earns a st load anyway, a rough estimate sees him earning just under £2k for working today alone!

I'd do that in a heartbeat.

I worked yesterday, I’m on a nightshift tonight and I’ve got leave on New Years Day as I should be working. We don’t get any more money we just get all bank holidays as DiLs whether are working or not so I’ve got 41 days leave to spend this year. I don’t mind.

Started back on lates driving the buses today (well yesterday, boxing day). Only got till Saturday to do, then 2030 finish NYE and 3 days off before 3 mornings. Then a week off for holiday.

I've only just come back from being off since Thursday 1430.

It's not fell bad this year

Air Traffic Control. Christmas is a quiet day, around 1600 flights vs ~5000 for a normal winters day, we topped 8000/day in summer.

Not on call this year, but I was last. Was paid roughly 2x daily wage for it, and O/T after 3PM. At 3PM one of the SAN's dropped a disk and caused a bit of fallout, just as I was about to lapse into a food coma at my mum's. Luckily it provided an excuse to decamp back home to quicker internets, so we took the opportunity and I then had a couple of hours O/T organising an engineer and part which had to be driven down from newcastle for a lucky engineer to fit.

The next day one of my colleagues was on (same deal) and had a PCI-e NVM SSD die in one of our more critical servers and spent several hours on the phone to people rebuilding that and the index that lived on it.

I then had New Years day (again, same deal) but luckily nowt happened.

I'm doing New Years day this year, so far nothing major has happened, so I'm a little worried...
