Leaving job - holiday entitlement.
Discussion
Hi chaps,
Tried calling ACAS but they're not open today - thought this would probably be the best place to ask!
I'm considering my options with regard to my employment at the moment, and one of those options is leaving the company. It's a large multinational retailer and I work as a store manager for them.
Our holiday year runs April to April, and at the time of typing I have 23 days holiday entitlement outstanding (more if I were to leave closer to April 2018). I have to give 4 weeks notice, but would intend to use my outstanding holiday allowance to negate some (most) of that.
What I would like to know is can they insist on me working the full notice and provide a payment in lieu (or nothing at all?). The reason I ask is that the company does not authorize holidays from November until February due to workload.
Many thanks!

If you want the holiday then do as normal and submit the request. It will either be approved or denied. if it is denied then any outstanding accrued leave should be paid in the final payroll. Yes they can insist on you working the full notice period rather than taking some as leave if they want to.Tried calling ACAS but they're not open today - thought this would probably be the best place to ask!
