Coping With A Job You Hate?

I've been put in a position where I have to take a job that I'm in a way over qualified for. I've been ready to move into Cyber Security full time, but due to the fact I need money, I've taken a Desktop Support role that I was never interested in. I'm starting it tomorrow and I have absolutely 0 excitement, enthusiasm or inspiration for it, it just makes me depressed thinking about it to be honest. I've been lucky to do some small Cyber Security jobs and Software Testing jobs in the past year while I've been studying, I quite enjoyed them. Quitting isn't an option really until at least February. A close family friend has offered me the chance to work in Florida doing Ethical Hacking on contract for a short while to ideally lead to something long term over there, but I need money to actually do it and spend time over there, and to help pay for the H-1B process, that's why I've settled on this job. Any advice to keep my head above water until I can leave? I keep telling myself what the end goal is, but I still can't help but feel nothing but miserable about it.

three months? I thought I was whinging about disliking my job now for a few years but know all too well about grass is always green syndrome, but three months??
Just go in, do the minimum, enjoy things in your personal life until you are able to move to your next job. Or as the others have said, MTFU its three months.

Are you sure that what you mean isn't "I think this job is beneath me"? Well in that case get a job that is up to your high standards. If you get one, you were right, if not then you were wrong. You're in exactly the place the job market says your experience and skills say you should be.
How old are you, out of interest?
So what if you have to do a job you don't like for 2 months to get a great job over in the states that many people would be pleased to have? If you don't want to then quit, let someone else do your 8 weeks of boring work and then they can have the big prize job, because they'd deserve it more.

The payslip at the end of the month balances out most of the downsides for me. Knowing that money was going to help me in the short term will make it better for you. Though I suspect you might find the H1B trickier than you thought these days, especially if your CISSP etc is freshly minted. Which domains do you currently have the requisite experience in?

If you are saving to work in Florida then you might want to check your eligibility as I believe the US bars some applications on mental health grounds. I could be wrong, but better to find out now if you are basis your future on it.I hate my job. Its boring, its the same thing day in day out, but it pays the bills and allows me to do things I enjoy. It isn't the best paying job, but I don't get paid too badly for what I do (£9.20 a hour to delivery shopping). My hours are set. I finish on time (other than once when I was ten minutes late, but that is not normal at all).
