Interview feedback

Afternoon guys,

some advice and opinions please.

Today marks exactly 4 weeks since I had an interview with a major engineering company for a field/service engineer post with hydraulic and mechanical engineering experience.
The interview, I felt, went really well, I answered all the questions, showed knowledge of their products and the industry they are in and was able to show that I was familiar with the some of the regions(world wide) they work. Additionally I followed the golden rule of never leaving an interview without asking a question, by asking a series of industry and politically related questions.
The interview lasted just over an hour, and to be honest could have lasted longer.

However since then, nothing, very little feedback what so ever. The feed back I have had I have sought from them.

I have phoned them twice now, first time after a week they said they had completed the interview and were still to make a decision. The second time, earlier this week they said it was now in the hands of HR and I would hear from them.

Given the time it's taken, I've resigned myself to not getting the job, however the lack of feedback is/has really pissed me off.

Anyone been in a similar situation? What's the longest you've waited for feedback?

Any advice or similar stories you wish to share?

Generally if they find the right person then the problem goes away for the hirer and they want to move quickly to an offer letter going out. Problems arise if they offer the position and then wait for a response or enter into negotiation, they like to keep the others waiting as they may well take the second place person if the first falls through.

Alternatively, they find someone and then go for the offer letter only to be told there is a freeze on hiring due to many reasons. If the thaw was to come soon after they will go silent and hope people hang on.

Neither is the right way to treat people and you can only write them off if they do not reply. Hope for the best, plan for the worst. Can you send a linkedin message to the interviewer?

Twice.

One job was first interview in early Jan. Followed by two more interviews, 2 online tests, phone interview, verbal offer, followed by written offer in August. I took it. i should have known better.

Another time a Firm was looking for someone with exactly my experience. They badly wanted to see me despite me going on holiday the next day. I went out of my way to see them. Despite interviewing well, and chasing them three times I've yet to hear any feedback. That was about 4 years ago

I don't think there's any point chasing for feedback. Just a chance you'll annoy someone. And what good will it really do if you corner them into saying something.
