Job titles, Contracts - help!!
Discussion
I need some advice please.
My work place have offered me additional hours to the work which I am already contracted for. Going from 10 hrs to 20 hrs. In addition they are asking me to take on other responsibilities, for a further 13 hours but at a lower pay.
The duties for each role are very different and the work does not cross over at all. In addition the extra hours given are only for a year, after which I go back to 10 hrs.
I have agreed with this offer, but the employer is now changing my job title for both of the roles. Is this normal? I haven't signed anything yet, just confirmed I'm happy in an email. I assume they will give me a change note to sign?? I'm a little confused as to why my job title now changes....from manager to lead, bearing in mind my original manager role is getting bigger?
I am a newbie to all things contractual, but why wouldn’t they just continue with the job title for the work I was currently performing and add an extra title for the extra work? Should I be worried and what can I legally ask for in order to ease my worries?
Thanks

Job Titles are meaningless ... you can have a "Managing Director" who is the sole person in a company. We've all encountered U.S. firms where a "Senior VP" is a 23 year old whose been in the job for six months ...
It was always the easiest appraisal meeting in the world when someone came fretting about their job title - free to fix. The guy who came in showing the revenue he had generated (or costs she had saved) was the one to watch - they would be gunning for a payrise.
Frankly I would find something else to worry about.

The money, benefits etc - is worth much more that an arse gravy job title.
Floobie is right.
Either you:
1/ Generate income
2/ Reduce cost
If you can demonstrate examples of either one of these much greater than your cost - then you are attractive to other companies.
