Redundancy, employer insolvent

Hi,
I was made redundant last Thursday and was told by the administrator that it would take up to two weeks for me to receive a reference number so that I can claim the money I am owed.
Oddly the company status is shown as "active" on companies house - is this normal?
The employees were not advised (either in writing or otherwise) that their jobs may be at risk.
The employees received no written notification of their redundancy.
This doesn't seem normal to me.

Are you sure it is insolvent rather than in administration.
If in administration the company still exists and is still 'active', so the terms of your contract and employment law are still in effect. You should still get paid what you are owed, but could be make redundant. The company should still be able pay its bills.
If not then it is insolvent meaning the company is defunct and the government pays outstanding wages; but I don't see why that information would get updated at companies house very quickly.
Either way you should get paid what you are owed.
