Holidays offered on new contract

High,

Have been offered a new job where the work rotations are 4 on (x2 days/ x2 nights) followed by x4 day off. What is the minimum that a company has to offer/ give?

All a bit new to me as I've come from working away on foreign contracts.

Doesn't seem an onerous job in the least (from an hours perspective). Those day/night splits will suck though; I'd rather do 4 day shifts, 4 off, 4 night shifts, 4 off, etc.

Not sure I understand why it says holidays in the thread title though? The shifts are 12 hour ones? The four days off are just that... time off to make the working week balance. You'll get annual leave on top.

Ok, should maybe have called it annual leave, not including the x8 statutory days?

Not totally sure but with that being four working days in eight calendar days that would be 182 working days per year.

Since there are generally about 250 Monday-Friday days in a year you may be "unlucky" and discover your shift pattern is your annual leave.

The shifts will be 12 hours, not 7.5/8 hours as per in the office

Really? It's 48 hours in 8 days. So a 42 hour week. You should get annual leave on top.

Ok, so it does have annual leave in the contract of 16 days plus the x8 statutory (at 8x8 hours).

As I've not had a UK contract for many years I was just curious what the minimum was.
