Anyone used CIPS to further there job ???

I'm thinking about using CIPS ( Chartered Inst of Purschasing & Supply) to further my job. Anyone give me any ideas whats involved ?? Any help would be grateful

I've hired perhaps half a dozen buyers in the last 18-24 months. CIPS hasn't been a major consideration as we have been looking for experience. What sort of experience have you already got? What length of experience too?

I haven't but it's certainly something I've been conscious of for a few years now, when looking at job opportunities. Most vacancies seem to state CIPS as being preferable and the role I'll be starting shortly (just awaiting the official offer) includes being put through the CIPS course (great that they encourage / support professional qualifications).

I personally think that it'd make a good addition to your CV if you're looking to make a career in procurement; certainly for getting a foot in the door interview-wise and particularly if you're looking to work in a new industry.
