John Lewis employees?
Discussion
My ex-girlfriend worked at their Nottingham branch many years ago. She regarded them as an excellent company, who offered good pay and conditions plus many perks and an annual bonus, based on profits, which can exceed 15% of salary in a good year. There is also an element of democracy in JL's decision making body, the 'partnership counsel'
The most important thing to remember is that JL employees are the owners of the business and are always referred to as "partners".

My wife works there. Her view is that it's a nice place to work with good people, not too bossy.
What she adds is that she believes they have a certain "type" of person they go for. It's hard to describe, but different from the average store worker. To a certain extent they look for people who complement their customer profile. Presentable, articulate, intelligent, personable, independent. Basically solidly middle class, with a focus on service.

Ex employee here.
From my experience I can say is that it looks perfect from the outside (bonus, being a 'partner', have your say - council thingy), but is far from perfect once you see exactly how it works.
What do you want to know?
PM if you want, I've worked in JL for few years and in quite a few different positions.
