JLR Apprenticeship Interview

Tomorrow I have an interview for an advanced apprenticeship with Jaguar Land Rover. I didn't really like the application form not really being a wordy type, though I though the online test was pretty easy.

So I'm just wondering what to expect in the assessment, it seems there are group exercises, test and interviews, what can I do to prepare myself? Anyone who's been through the process who can help?

A little late to be starting to prepare, but just be yourself, not too arrogant, take the lead in the group sessions by making sure everyone contributes (they like that sort of thing), if there are 2 opposing views, get 2 other people to say what is good and bad about each view point. Offer an opinion with some reasoning. Remember you got this far, and focus on where this will take you.

Not been through the process myself but when I worked for Jlr the majority of apprentices we came across had difficulty spelling their own names. So the fact that you've managed to write a coherent thread puts you in good standing.

Leaving things to the last minute is a bad habit of mine! Only ever had a few interviews with Sainsbury's, ASDA and another apprenticeship 2 years ago. Still don't have any type of part time work but I have improved my skills, got offered a job on my last one but they had changed the hours. Also JLR is a bit more relevant to my knowledge.

Good to hear that all I have to do to stand out is be literate!

Yes and no, from my experience their attitude toward apprentice training is weak at best. To the point I remember the test track at gaydon being shut down because one such apprentice decided to go the wrong way round track because his supervision wasn't correctly monitored, you can imagine how that nearly ended. Dependant on where your based have you applied for over manufacturers bmw is only down the m40.

Ah, I have plenty of experience with crap education. Currently I'm at college, one student in my class apparently went to the JLR academy and he can hardly identify a wheel.

Never even thought to apply for BMW at Hams Hall, would have done if i'd rememebered. Know of any other good ways into the motor industry or motorsport? Looking at all options before making a choice, but I'd take the JLR one if nothing better comes along.

How about Aston Martin, it is literally next door :-)
