Managment Degree

Hello.

I work for the ambulance service, and I am/are about to reach a fork in my career progression. I can go one way and follow a forever advancing clinical direction, or I can follow a managerial route.

I know exactly what to do re: the clinical side but can anyone recommend what sort of managerial qualification/degree I should be looking at if I go down that route?

What is it you want to learn and why do you think a degree is the right method?

I'm currently studying with the OU for a degree in leadership and management. It basically a business degree, but compulsory modules around running teams and strategy etc. my hope is to then do an MBA with the OU afterwards.

There are however many other qualifications that can be suitable.

If you aspire to remain in the NHS then a Masters in a management discipline is essential if you wish to progress above Band 7. Look on NHS Jobs for the roles you would aspire to and see what the essential qualifications are and take it from there. Good luck!

I already have a DipHE in Paramedic Practice, so how does that work?

That linked to course is what I am doing.

I started in October 2011 and should finish by December 2017, so bang on 6 years.
