Marketing Exec to Brand Manager transition, central London

Hi all,
I'm looking for some advice on behalf of my girlfriend (who is working hard on her own, but I'd like to help if possible). I currently work in central London, while she's back home.
She's looking to make the move over to London, and is currently in a Marketing Executive role where she's been for about four to five years post graduation. It's in the security sector (electronic access security). She started as an intern of sorts, was kept on, and progressed through to her current role. She's very good, and travels to both mainland UK and and the Middle East for marketing shows, and has the opportunity next year to travel to the Far East for same.
She'd like to make the move across to Brand Manager (probably Assistant Brand Manager, initially, we would imagine) and I'm wondering if anybody has any advice on this transition? The sector isn't hugely important, though fashion and beauty would definitely appeal as that's her interest and she has some background there, through various beauty related courses when younger. That said, electronics, telecoms, utilities are all goers, and she's seen that British Gas are advertising, and this has appealed.

- I'd really appreciate any advice on the transition from Marketing Exec to Brand Manager
- Which portals are best for finding roles? We know the big ones, but any smaller sites catering to niche / specific markets would be wonderful!
- Salary expectation 25 - 40k depending on how much weight is given to experience
- Any random musings you think might be useful, personal experiences, etc.
