Interview help...

I'm fine with interviews. I know the score having recruited many times before in previous jobs.

However, I have a interview with a firm who found my CV online for a job based in the UK, with the odd trip to branches in France. So I can only assume that being able to speak French would be a distinct advantage (I'm making an assumption here, but it might not be a neccessity)
Having not spoken it since school (where I was above average), I'm pretty rusty.

Anyone have any hints/tips that could help me get the role? It's pretty much my ideal job so want desperatly to succeed!

First comment would be that if they've already seen your CV and assuming it doesn't have French stated on it as a skill you should feel comforted that they've decided to interview you anyway. Hence it is likely don't see it as critical. I've done business in France before, speaking very little, as (to our country's shame) so many of the French speak good enough English.

If asked in my view it would be better to be direct about your French language skills at present and not overstate them, as it will be very easy to test (worse still if you're found to be inadequate once you start). You could then go on to say that for the role you'd be motivated to overcome this / learn the language and then give an example of a skill that you didn't have when starting a previous job and how you worked to pick that up quickly. Indeed if the interview is going well, and they don't ask, then it could be something you bring up yourself to show you're thinking about how you'd fit in / succeed.
