Civil Service Fast Stream - Engineer

Has anyone gone through the above? I'm considering a change from the private sector to the public sector but would appreciate some more information on what i may be tasked to do should I apply and be successful.

I'm willing to accept the pay cut if there are soem exciting opportunities out there.
