How much did you earn?
Discussion
My first Saturday job in 1987, I was earning £1.20 an hour which went up to a massive £1.33 an hour.
My first full time job in 1990 was £5000 pa, which at that time seemed like an absolute fortune (until I met someone in the company who had spent that on his holiday the previous year)

My very first monthly pay packet in 1959 was for a gross monthly wage of £21.25 (£255 pa). My first pay rise was to £280 pa. This is at a very well known insurance company for whom I worked for 8 years.
R.
That figures. I worked for sun Life in Cheapside in 1962 at £300 p.a. plus a London weighting of £30 p.a. We were paid in cash monthly rounded off to the nearest 10/-.R.
I earned approx £400 per month in my first part-time job, depending on what shifts I'd done and £11k in my first full-time job.
Back then I could afford to run a car, go out at least once a week and get blind-drunk if not two or three times and have enough to put a few quid aside for a lad's holiday once a year.
My first three cars were a Pug 205 XS, an MX5 and an E36 M3...a good start...
When you're a young'n and living at home, you can't wait to have your own place...looking back, you don't know you're born until you get yourself a mortgage, at which point you can only dream of such disposable income!
ETA My part-time job was circa 1997/8 and I think I started my first full-time job in 2000.

My first summer holiday job was making fibreglass canoes. I earned the fantastic sum of £1 per hour, this was in 1986 and I was 14. I got my first pay after 2 weeks and I had earned £100 which was more money than I had ever seen, I still remember constantly counting it on the bus ride home.
I was knackered though, stank of resin and had fibreglass rash.

I'm sure that's the amount I was earning although it was obviously a long time ago.
I worked on the dairy section of a large supermarket, I really didn't enjoy it
asda? My first job as well in 1987 and IIRC the £1.33/hr rate was the starting rate for 16year olds. It jumped to about £3 when you were 18 I think.I worked on the dairy section of a large supermarket, I really didn't enjoy it
