Hi guys.

So I applied for a role in front office. I am currently middle/back..

Was thinking if succesful I would seriously consider asking for an increase in pay. Its a whole new contract with a different legal entity within the org. Albeit at the same corporate title/level.

Anyone had any experience of moving to a completely subsidiary within a company and asking for better pay?

No harm in asking, worst they can do is say no.

I would treat it as an external move, look at jobsites and see what the market rates are and ask for those or slightly less if you are lacking experience

They will be saving on agency fees anyway

Salaries tend to be banded (formally or informally) according to corporate title across all divisions.

Total compensation is another matter entirely.

Yes, you should ask. I have moved to very different roles within my company and have been giving incremental improvements each time. If you are however at the top of your earnings ceiling for a specific corporate level/role, than probably not.

Good luck..

Or a role that has been advertised externally it is an anoying fact that in some organisations new starters come in at the market rate, existing staff came in at market rate but potentially only got inflationary pay rises meaning the old guy with 5 years service could be on less than the new starter
