time to wait before contacting potential employer?

I attended a second interview on Friday morning, the employer was viewing candidates for the rest of that day.
I followed up with a brief email thanking the HR lady for the interview (and probably could have re-affirmed my interest in the role at the same time, but anyway).
Company stated they would be in touch either way this week.
Without hassling them, how long is customary to wait before contacting after an interview? I was thinking of a brief email asking for feedback from last week.

My advice...

Do not contact them this week, it will make you look desperate.

I wouldn't start chasing until the middle of next week at the earliest but would probably have assumed the worst by then.

Normal process is to follow up with the top candidate first and keep everyone else on backburner as long as possible until the role is filled or suitable candidates aren't interested.

Agree with the above - if they have told you you will hear within a week, wait till early next week.

Agree here too. Now is definitely too early. Also, chasing the answer isn't going to change it, especially as you have already tacitly indicated your interest with the thank-you email.

Give it the rest of the week and chase maybe last thing Friday or Monday mid-morning.

One thing to bear in mind is that whilst their response is uppermost in your mind, they are going to have their day jobs to crack on with so rather than no news being bad news, it could just as well be down to the fact that they're busy and haven't yet got round to jumping through the HR hoops to get an answer out there.

I realise the correct thing is just to wait, always useful to have it confirmed though.
I am very keen on this role and I believe I interviewed well, so have done all that I can at the moment.
