OK, its not as exciting as some of the threads on here but I've got a quick question about job titles on the CV.

I'm a little unsure what to put down as my job title as I've had the job 2 years and for the last 6 months I've had the word Senior to stick on it. It doesn't actually mean anything here, though - they kinda treat it as a reward for either sticking around a long time or for taking on responsibility, it doesn't give any extra responsibilities itself.

All the details of what I've done are in the text, so I'm leaning towards leaving it off rather than cluttering things up, does that sound right or should I be including it in there?

I know it would probably look better to someone who doesn't know how its treated in the company & that its not really a promotion, but I guess I'd need to put down both dates (ie, 10-12, regular, 2012 senior) so it would also look bad in that respect that it would seem like I wanted out just after getting a promotion, even though it isn't one really.

Put it as senior in the title

in the text, state promoted to senior in June (or whenever)

I agree. Not sure why you wouldn't want to include it? Appreciate it might not mean anything to you, financially or in terms of responsibility.

But it does indicate you are experienced

Your outcomes based CV is your one shot at capturing the eye of the employer or recruiter over all of the other applicants. You should not lie on your CV, but you should exploit every opportunity to demonstrate your competencies and impact above that of the competition; trust me, they will be doing that too. Good luck!

My work title changed years ago from senior supervisor to junior assistant manager. Same job, same money just different title. You’ll get more call backs with the senior title added to your CV.
