Brits getting employed in America?

Soooooo had some bad news today, that my recent job offer/promotion has now been withdrawn due to finance issues with a merger. The plan was for my soon to be wife to move over here from a small town outside Boston, MA, to start a life together here.

However, I'm not considering going over there as I'm sick of my job and it took me 6 months to get the offer that has just been reversed.

I've heard stories of it being difficult in the states for roles for Brits, as they would employ an American with similar skills over a Brit.

I don't have any portable skills really - All my experience in Telecoms has been Admin/Team leader/small time technical without any actual qualifications.

Have I got a hope in hell over there? I'd be miserable working in Retail or bar work if that's all I could get

Don't worry about bar work, that isn't gonna happen.

To be honest your only chance is to join a company that then transfer you over there (and pay for visas etc). Highly unlikely you'll get over there by just applying for jobs with US companies.

IIRC even if you marry a US citizen you cannot work.

If he's married to a USC he can work.
In my experience, being British and having the right work ethic (quite different to that of the UK) puts you at an advantage.
All this is dependent on you being married to your USC girlfriend and satisfying USCIS and DoL criteria.
