Oh Wise and Sage PH!

As some of you know I am moving to Austria in two weeks (yes!)

I will be teaching English privately (already qualified). I am qualified specifically in teaching young learners and Business English, but I am wondering how much to charge per hour for Private lessons?- I feel $30Euros will be reasonable for students and $40E for Businesses. I have teaching experience.

If it makes any difference, the town I will be moving to is Altaussee- its a very affluent (with lots of great cars to ogle!)

So, does that rate sound about right or am I aiming to high?

Thanks

D.

I think you might be pushing it for those rates. In Spain, private classes are €20ish to the teacher if done in a school, or €25 if done at the home of the student. Business classes are similar in price. I guess that Spain might be different to Austria, but not by much

Erm - charge as much as the market will bear...

Hunt around local university/colleges

Call up a few training firms that offer English and see what they charge (pretend to be an English company looking to expand and recruit in Austria)

Then aim for the middle...

Also to add, though the University towns are good for student numbers you will also have more competition.
If you are in a smaller or more remote town then you might be able to get away with charging more.
