Speech Therapy as a career
Discussion
Does anyone have any experience as a speech therapist or know anyone that does? I ask as my girlfriend is really interested in following this path and would appreciate hearing from someone who works in this field.
She is currently studying English and French at uni, but is looking into doing a Masters in speech therapy (I don't know the exact name of the course) next year.

Thorry! Only withsh I could add thomething conthwuctive.
but seriously my daughter had a lisp until she was 5 and we got her an appointment with a speech therapist. We explained to her as simply as we could what the hospital visit was all about and the therapist began to talk to her. Only she didn't lisp and never has since and she is nearly 12. Boy were we embarrassed!

Some 51 vacancies in the NHS <http://www.jobs.nhs.uk/cgi-bin/advsearch>
Some 13000 registered with the HPC <http://www.hpc-uk.org/aboutregistration/professions/index.asp?id=13#profDetails>
Best advice would be to visit a local NHS trust and speak to one as well as visiting a Uni that runs an accredited course. Good luck to her.
