The very basics of employment law(!)
Discussion
PH, I understand, firstly, that something as expanse as 'emplyment law' can be hard to summarise, so on that note, allow me to explain!
I'm currently partaking in a group exercise, of which involves chosing a subject to educate other group members. The objective is to select a subject of which you know nothing about, so the easier ones such as training, presentations, sales etc were all quickly snapped up by others.
This was handed to me thurty minutes ago, of which I need to deliver a 15 minute presentation tomrrow morning
So all I ask for is some basics in employment law, potentially subjects which can be generalised (dismissal processes etc) and any advice on resources where I can research? Direct.gov.uk seems to be great for the finer details, but I only have 15 minutes and I don't feel it's the equivalent of asking someone to read a dictionary! Just a bombardment of information.
So two things I'd really appreciate:
1) Ideas for key areas of employment law (i.e. dismissal processes)
2) Ideas for resources for my research, other than direct.gov!
If anyone's done this sort of task before, I'd really appreciate your help!
P.S. I'm in a hotel and the internet connection is rather slooooow which will make this even more painful
Oh, and employment law is absolutely nothing to do with my job and probably never will be (possibly in the future if I were to set up my own business, we currently have outsourced HR for those things)
