New job and Starting Date delima ?
Discussion
Hi,
I have accepted a new job offer and have already given my notice period with the current company.
I am in search of a property to let in south and its been very difficult for us to find a right property within our budget. I wasn't too much aware of housing prices in south before accepting a job offer.
New company has accomodated me very well so far but they want me to start in the end of Jan 2012 which i am willing to do so but i can't confirm the starting date until i find a right property for my family and kids. We will be relocating from north and i don't know how to handle this situation wisely.
Also, i am on dental treatment which will last at the end of January depends on my tooth condition and it can't be moved to different dentist.
I can easily work longer (few more weeks) in my current company but i need to give a start date to new company and also to my landlord. I am really confused, do you think it would be a good idea if i tell them that i need a more time for house hunting and if they need someone urgently then they can withdraw this offer? (I don't know how this going to work out for me becuase i have already handed in my notice)

Can't travel back for a dental treatment as it would cost me about £150 on train.
Which do you want? New job or fixed teeth? In the grand scheme of things £150 isn't that much and you can get cheaper tickets if you book online and early. How long ago did you accept the offer of the new job? They received my signed contract about 8 days ago.
Dental treatment story is very long and i am thinking about suing (compensation) my dentist for mistreating and breaking my front tooth.
At the moment alot of things going on and i feel like giving up and staying with the current company. May be i should have done more research on hosuing prices before accepting the job offer. Also recruitment agent was keep convincing me about accepting this job offer.
I think its too late to refuse the offer once i have signed it but i think i will let them know in detail about my situation and if they want to withdraw this offer then its fine becuase i know they really need someone to start this job asap becuase there is no one other for looking after their Software and Database systems.

They wouldn't have much recourse if you didn't turn up, their losses would be very difficult to quantify and not worth the effort. Dental treatment story is very long and i am thinking about suing (compensation) my dentist for mistreating and breaking my front tooth.

TBH you don't seem to have the balls for this move, probably best not to do it.

May be it is normal to feel uneasy when you move your job where you feel well settle plus relocating with the family?
I would have worked out everything before signing the contract, rather than after, if I'm honest. All of your issues could have been solved with a bit of planning. Gassing Station | Jobs & Employment Matters | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
