Hopefully the title generates a few looks.
I have a bit of a predicament, an opportunity has come up in work to join a "Talent watch" program. The only problem is I have to compose an E-Mail as to why I should be selected, 6 people out of around 300 will be picked although I'd imagine only 60 would apply so potentially a good chance. The thing is I havn't had to do anything like this since I applied for the original job 3 years ago.
Whats the form for this? Don't want to seem arrogant but I can imagine certain "Buzz" words will be looked for.
Any tips Phers?

Sorry I should have explained further, it's a development program to create future managers, underwriters and the likes. One of the problems I face is that course is aimed at creating team leaders but although I have no interest in leading others I have been reccomended to apply for more techinical roles like underwriting and problem solving roles. I am under the impression I need to be positive in my application but how do I say "I am not interested in becoming what this course aims to create however I would like to specialise in other areas" Not exactly positive...
As you can tell I work for a large company and everyone uses terms such as "Off the back", "Moving forward" hence why I would not want to move into management.
That's a difficult situation.
THere seems to be little point applying becasue it would be ungenuine and you probably wouldn't want what they are offering anyway!
Unfortunately to be the one in ten that succeeds in the application you will have to litter it with assurances of your dedication/ambition/confidence etc and if its not really sincere I think you'll find it impossible!

If you are a follower, as opposed to a leader, and you are content with this, then I would think you would find it inherently difficult to apply for this programme with any conviction. Why not declare your hand formally, but then ask for guidance on how you improve your competencies for the technical roles that interest you. Good luck!
