Got a pay rise?

Just thinking about the number of threads on here that seem to be moaning about the rising cost of living and rising inflation, and it got me wondering about the last time I had a pay rise. Which was about 3 years ago now. I think I am right in saying that this is normal for the private sector at the moment but not entirely sure, hence the poll.

Mods could we keep this in the lounge as it tends to get more traffic?

I have never had a pay rise in a job. Only got more money by going to a new job. Left university in 2006, with my 3rd full time employer currently.

I am only slightly beating inflation since 2006 . That said, I didn't start badly for a graduate. Also I got the impression that there hasn't been any real wage inflation for the last decade, so that makes me feel less bad.

I'm very fortunate to get annual pay rises, below the rate of inflation but still better than nothing. In real terms, I haven't had a pay rise for 10 years but in that time 2/3rds of my colleagues have been made redundant so I can't complain. I always have the option to leave, but haven't wanted to so far.

Got annual pay rises only since graduating. Quite frustrating and feel the only way to get a real rise will be to move companies, push harder, think carefully about asking for one.

Never been in a job long enough...not in a bad way did lots of temping post Uni and i'm now self employed and quite happy with the current rate i charge.

Got a 3% inflation payrise in the last company I worked for before moving to another company for more money so technically I got two payrises.

This year got around 2% rise. Not a lot but it all helps.

First year with company, no pay rise but didn't expect one.
Second year, 2% across the board.
Third (this) year, 2% across the board apart from a few key, essential people who the company want to keep. I was one of these and got 4.5%

Its been so long since I got a pay rise I am thinking of moving company again. The last time I moved company 3 years ago I got a big boost in income. And after 6 months got a pay rise with the new company as well. Which was nice.

Its just coming up to review time this year, so fingers crossed for some kind of rise, but I will not be surprised if I do not get one. Would you ask for one in my situation? Or ask for an updated version of your CV? Or just say if you dont get one then you are going to go to a different company?

Not quite sure what to do.

But nothing after 3 years is a bit rough (in my eyes).

I left last month. There hadn't been a payrise for over four years. On my last day a 1% rise across the board was announced.

I gave myself a payrise when I had kids. That was 7 years ago, not changed it since.

Personal allowance went up in April, so I gave myself a pay rise.

Means I'll make less profit and therefore pay myself less dividend.

I got 6% from the 1st April under the merit system according to performance. However, it was preceded with two years of no payrises and for 7 months during that time a 10% pay cut.

I voted this year.. But, it was only from below the minimum wage (Yes yes, I know they shouldn't have been able to do it.. I was just glad for a job) to just above Minimum Wage.

Might, be getting another few £k raise end of August/September though.

Got 3%, everybody who works for a sub-contractor did it was good to get. Staff who work for directly my client seemed to get 5-9% as a rule.

I know of one team which is still on the same (overdue) project as last year, has taken nothing extra on in their role, has had no change of staff in the team and they all picked up an 11% pay rise over the year. :shakesheadindisbelief:

3.5% annual review increase April 1st, although that was the first time in about 2 years the company has actually run it's annual focal point review. Saying that, in the past 12 months I am the only one in the department who's been promoted.

Still paid several grand below the going rate in the market though

Changed jobs twice in the last 3 years and got higher pay at new places, so technically not a payrise, but more money in my pay packet.
