I've just heard that Bookatrack can no longer use Colerne airfield or Bentwaters due to noise and the same restrictions were applied to Easytrack using Kemble and Wroughton airfields....

Is the airfield day becoming a thing of the past? I'd like to take the Chimaera on one, but they all seem to be a fair distance from London...

Does anyone know of a good airfield day that isn't too expensive or too far from North London? I have used Easytrack several times in the past and have always been very impressed, but there's simply no room at tracks like Brands to really push the limit and learn how to slide the car...

I hope to attend motor-sports events airfield day at Hullavington on May 24th. Near Chippenham/Colerne. Noise restriction is 103-4dB I think but there may be a little room for negotiation if you are close.

I agree with the preference for unlimited run off at least until you become a better judge of where the limit is.

True, but with a circuit comprised with cones it can be quite difficult to spot the line and you don't get the cambering of a true race track.

But for finding the limits of your car, fantastic!

What!! ... Due to Noise??? O.F.F.S. It's a bloody airfield! The Bloody Red Arrows used to be based at Kemble. Don't tell me they were quiet!

If you buy a house near an airfield (or race circuit) you should expect a bit of noise.

Bloody.. pinko.. nanny... b*stards..............

I have to say, I've been at Kemble with a 105 db limit and been overflown by the jet that lives there, and I could hear it over my engine at full revs, and me with a skid lid on!

Guess it's the continual noise the nearby punters don't like. A lot of these airfields hadn't been used for years till us lot turned up and started to make sideways noises

A good airfield venue is Bruntingthorpe... (about 80 mins up the M1) there are days there this year using the 2 mile runway. (Tiff in the Tiger on Mondays Fifth Gear). Careful though, it's a very gritty surface (don't follow anyone too close!)

Lastly, Marcus (@Easytrack) really does have another airfield venue lined up in the south for later this year (honest).

Kemble has not been closed down the problem was apparently with the organisors operating there, in fact there will be a number of events there this year.

Guys airfield days are definitely not becoming a thing of the past - quite the opposite.

We are holding days throughout the year at several venues and are at good old Kemble on June 21st in fact!
