Childs Track Day
Discussion
Yep, Brands Hatch definately do one for anyone over about knee high. I dont think its mentoned on their web site but give them a call, my daughter got one for christmas. Half day on track plus theory session for £60, good deal as far as I could see. She has just got to phone and book which day she wants to do. They run them weekends once a month or so plus school hols.

Any more info?
As long as nipper is over 4ft 10 tall they are welcome. £60 buys you 3 hours in a new dual control Mazda 3 with two other pupils and a qualified driving instructor, they all take turns at driving, simulated urban setup ? and on track if conditions permit. More days are run in school holidays and in summer but they are all year. They should be taught basics as moving off, clutch control and braking. Seems like a great idea to start them off. Apparently they do get busy and early booking advised. Gift voucher was well presented and valid for a year. Dont have phone No handy but call Brands, or go into the shop.

Silverstone and Rockingham do what I call 'Earlyswerve' )
They are in Saxo/Audi A class type cars with pro drivers on the perimeter roads.
There is also a place somewhere in Essex (just before the Thames crossing on M25 from M1 side) where they have real road layout with traffic lights and roadworks. No age limit so long as the drivers can reach the pedals. They offer a bit of classroom stuff too.
Hope this helps..

If he doesn't go karting he'll never be much cop at racing...
Just like that Damon Hill
Who fortunately could rely on great car-honing techniques to develop a faster car. He'd have won bu**er all if he had to rely on his non-exsistent 'racing' talents.
But don't take my word for it. After all, what would Senna and Scumy know. But if the lad doesn't go karting, on his first ever car race, he'll be surrounded by others of the same age who have experienced hundeds of race starts, and hundreds of first laps, and will have dozens of hours of track experience.
Not impossible to overcome though, ask Damon.
