I've been thinking of getting a cheap intercom system to use on track days, to be able to speak to passengeres/instructors more easily.

Maplin sell one designed for bike riders (uses cables, not radio so rider and pillion only) for about £20, and I've seen other similar ones for anything up to £100.

Has anyone used these, and can you recommend a decent one?

I've tried one of the cheaper ones from Demon Tweeks, but it was uncomfortable as the speakers were a bit big and dug in.

I think it's an area where you get what you pay for - the good ones have noise cancelling/directional mikes and noise cancelling software. The one I'm currently using for my Ult is a Starcom which works really well and will let you plug a radio and mobile phone in. Very clear speech, £160 for the main unit with 2 headsets and wiring. It's essentially the same as the Autocom which is about £100 more.
