My mates girlfriend wants to buy him a "driving experience" for his birthday. Me taking my VX220 on the track has obviously got him drooling

I've done a rally and a single seater experience/red letter day type thing over the years and there was alot of waiting and not much driving imo for £150+, so my question is has anyone been on one of these days that they consider good value for money and you get a bit more that 20 mins.... Midlands Based would be good

cheers CC

I work for most of the schools so think I can offer some straight advice here.

If she wants him to drive a single seater, Silverstone is the best value with 40 minutes continuous driving time, a safe but free environment and far and away the most time you'll get in car anywhere under £200 for any experience.

For specific saloon/sports car driving experiences as much as anything the session times and briefings etc are again all very similar (packaged differently though), so the type of car you want to put him in is the real deciding factor here. Rockingham (BMW and Mini)and Silverstone (Audi) are the only choices here I would suggest.

If she wants him to drive a variety of cars (MG ZS, Mercedes CLK, Porsche Boxster, etc then Thruxton is by far the best choice, with the added bonus that the gift holder can hire additional sessions if they want in some of the cars.

Can't comment on Rallying I'm afraid because I'm not involved with those experiences.

Thanks Simon

I think he would most enjoy a saloon/elise/rwd day, though the Silverstone day sounds good with 40 mins
