Hedtec Helmets
Discussion
Been looking at getting a full face helmet to replace the cheap Sparco clubsport one I've had for about 3 years now. It's done well, but isn't great in convertibles/Caterhams etc. and I'd like the extra protection a full face lid gives anyway.
Got an email from a company I use for trackdays (Motorsport Events) about these new "Hedtec" helmets. They look damn cheap for what they are, anyone had any experience of them?
I know one should always look to spend as much as they can on a helmet, but as I'm cutting back my trackdays to 3 or 4 a year (plus Nurburgring) I don't want to spend a silly amount. Be grateful if anyone with any knowledge of helmets and their technology could advise...

I got the email from Motorsport Events, my helmet is beginning to look a bit battered now, so I'm looking to replace it quite soon.
As you say the Hedtec helmets seem very cheap for what they offer but I haven't been able to find anything out about them apart from what's on their own site, so I'd be interested if anyone has any opinions on them.

Cheap, but the strap buckle seems like a faf to do up
Isn't the double D ring (shirly theres a few jokes there), a fairly standard fitting for helmets?I don't find it a hasle on mine (A Kiwi!) for the 2 or 3 days a year I use it.

Although a different design I'd say they come out of the same Chinese factory as the V2 helmets (www.v2sport.com), the price of the full face lid and spare visors is identical. I have a V2 and am pleased with it, so if these are similar should be pretty good.
Are the sizes comparable to most other manufacturers do you know? Just I would say I've got a pretty big head, and the Sparco open face that fits me is an M size.Slacey said:

I wondered about this, particularly because of the connection with Bell. Ive looked on the original manufacturers site and theres no sign of them, though...Ed here from Motorsport Events the suppliers of Hedtec helmets. I very rarely post on forums, but just wanted to let everyone know that our helmets are not related to other similarly priced helmets on the market. We are extremely proud of Hedtec helmets and know that they are as good as other products costing 3-4 times as much. We must make it clear that whilst we will not comment on comparisons to rival products, we feel extremely confident in the quality of the product we are selling. If you want to ask any questions please email me at info@hedtec.co.uk and come and see us at the Autosport Show stand 6840 in Hall 6. A Happy New Year to everyone!
Hi Gents,
Yes mail order is fine. That is how we sell most of them. Just call 0870 787 2116.
We have found that if you get your head measured accurately it is rare that we ship out the wrong size. For size and measurement information please click: www.hedtec.co.uk
I hope this helps and please email us at info@hedtec.co.uk if you have any more questions. I really don't want to get too involved on the forum as I don't want to be seen to be shamelessly pushing our products and services. I hope you understand.
All the very best
Ed
