I received a "Track Days" voucher for Xmas from my gf this year, whch is great, but now I have a few questions. Hoping some of you lovely people can help me out.

Are these vouchers only redemmable via "Track Days" or can I use them on a TVRCC track day too?

Has anyone got any recommendations for a track - I've never done one before, and I'm driving a 4.5 TVR Chim. There's a TVRCC track day coming up at Snetterton in April - would that be a good first track?

Can you hire helmets at most trackdays? If so, how much?

As per a previous post in the Chim section, my front tyres are on their way out. If I stay with them for the track day, and then need to change them to drive home legally, can you buy new tyres and get them fitted at most track days? Do you pay a premium because you are at a track?

I think that's about it for the moment.

I've read the article on track days in the latest copy of Sprint - very useful. Bu the above questions weren't answered.

Thanks in advance.

Ropey.

Firstly can't answer your Track Day voucher question, but the others

1) Snetterton is a relatively good cicuit to start on an a complete trackday novice

2) You have only one head, I assume that you want to keep it that way, go and treat yourself to a helmet that both fits you correctly and is comfortable. Use hired/borrowed helmets at your peril, you have no history of their abuse or whats been in them!!

3) Front Tyres, supposing its a wet or damp day, unless you have contacts with God, then I suggest that you just change your front tyres and not risk anything, then you haven't got to worry.

Sorry to get you to spend some money, but safety really does come first

Unless you've organised the tyres in advance, and you're sure they have them and are bringing them, I wouldn't risk it - change your tyres first.

Again can't help with your first point, but as you are in London, I'd recommend either Bedford Autodrome (very safe circuit) or Goodwood (less safe but a whole heap of fun) - both about 60/90 mins away.

FYI Helmets are usually for hire at £10... but it's a good investment to get one that fits and suits (once you've done one track day, you'll want to do more.. honest!)

I put a page up with some tips for first timeres here - might be of some help.

Also a quick plug (no affiliation) for both Easytrack and Bookatrack, who are very friendly and run very safe days.

Although I did that for Folembray last year and got through about 1/3 of the n/s front, but at the time couldn't risk a 400 mile round trip as well as the track day on the old ones

If you can get some spare wheels fit them with new tyres and run the old ones on track (unless it's wet etc)

>> Edited to add a thumbs up for bookatrack, Did my first day with them; very safe, friendly and not intimidating at all
