Hi All

Just wondering if anyone knows of any prices for getting fire extinguishers re-checked as bf's one is due for a safety check ready for next seasons racing.

I got my extinguisher serviced at the motorsport shop at Castle Combe and it cost me something like £30 if I remember right.

I am just preparing a TVR 3000M as a track day car, is a fire extinguisher mandator and what sort would you recommend? Thanks in advance.

Not mandatory but anything to add safety is a bonus, just make sure it's fitted in securely

Of all the track days I've been on, only one mandated a fire extinguisher. If you decide to get one, I'd suggest you follow the blue book recomendations and go for AFFF at least 2 liters capacity, I'd suggest hand held mounted where you can get at it from the drivers seat.

AFFF stands for Aquious Film Forming Foam, which basically means water foam rather than Halon, dry powder etc. This is the stuff recommended for car fires.

Well, it's the stuff *allowed*. Pity it's crap at putting out fires.
