A few of us on the PCGB and 968uk.com sites are thinking of gathering at an early season track day, would be good if any of you would like to join in.

An RMA Trackday www.rma-limited.co.uk at Jonathan Palmers Bedford Autodrome.

Date: Saturday 28th February 2004 (days will be starting to get longer then and half-term will be over)

Price: Full dayer for £149 when booked online. (ps I have no connection with RMA just in case the thought occurred to you, the circuit is not far from where I live so that is biasing my opinion!!!)

It is a nice wide open (ex-airfield) circuit, so probably one of the safest venues for a track day.

The noise test issue has always put me off Bedford, even though I`d like to go. They received some bad press over the noise testing at a Suburu day and as I test at 99 - 103db I fear I may be turned away.
Has anyone with an 964C2/RS with a cup pipe been to Bedford and passed?

I'll be there in Jan and Feb in the 993RS. If you're there please come and say hi - it's a silver N-reg left hooker.

I'll certainly be there at the January one (I've got a black 996 TT) with my brother (guysh, in his Noble GTO3) and a couple of friends in an Elise and Caterham - look forward to seeing any PHers

Don't understand this - there are shed loads of threads (on here and elsewhere) saying Bedford is very tight on noise (may be not so bad on static but the drive by is a problem). My bog standard 996 gets 101dB (3/4 revs 0.5m etc etc) so how come fancy stuff like RS's can get thru? I have just forked out for a bespoke exhaust for the caterham in an attempt to get down to Bedford type noise levels. May be I shouldn't have bothered (it was 98dB static before the new exhaust but much much louder on drive by). Confused?

Any other people thinking of coming to this? Hoping to get at least 10 968's, of which about half are tracking. Would be good to see a few more Porsches.

Although sold out some last minute places may become available this week, give RMA a ring.

always a chance for a last minute place due to cancellation.

how far are you away? could even turn up on spec and see if you can get on track when there are a few no shows. always good social events even if you do not drive.

come and say hello if you decide to attend, i am in the white Porsche 968 coupe.

I bet your Caterham noise issue is induction related rather than exhaust, so im guessing you are either running carbs, or have a new R spec & have a roller barrel throttle.

Be interested to find out about Bedford and noise, to date I've shyed away from taking the SR3 there but will shortly also be getting a GT3 and that should be a bit quieter (fingers crossed).

Andrew,

Did bedford GT two weeks ago and there was an SR3 there (Andrew Bailey?) which got on OK. Palmer also laid on a M3 CSL, Cayenne and GT3 which you could hire (£125 for 20 minutes I think). So give Bedford/Palmer a call they should know if the GT3 is going to be under the noise limit.

What you planning on taking on the annual PH European trackday (Folembray?) this year?

cheers,
Mike

Cheers Mike.

Is there a Euro day this year? If there is, we'd take both cars, rude not to really!
