I dont normal slag people off on forums but they really are being unbelieveably childish.. and assume not one of us TVR owners could pass their draconian noise tests....




Edited by Domster (moderator) because people can make their own minds up about Bedford if they wish to read the threads. No leading the witness or dragging PH into the mire, please. Many PHers have had no problems at Bedford - I drove an Ultima there for gawd's sake and that is as noisy as it gets. That is not to say it is all rosy but please remember that there are always two sides to every story and that people should be left to make up their own minds. Cheers, Domster.

Almost all standard TVR's are fine noise-wise at bedford.

There's no need for personal abuse ffelan.

I don't know the full facts of the case so I'm not going to let this turn into a Palmer bashing thread.

Your comment about TVRs is also completely unfounded. I've run a number of track days there and so have TVR themselves. Standard cars aren't a problem. Cars with sports exhausts need silencing.

I just found it funny how all the mags who Mr Palmer advertises his little track in dont seem to want to comment and he banned quiet Skoda drivers just for posting an opinion in a thread...

anyway as for silencing.. I will stick with my carbon cans and Cadwell/Knockhill/Anglesey who dont seem too worried.. and have lots of lovely hills and cambers to play with as well

To be fair the noise limits aren't of JP's own making. They're nothing but a pain in the arse for all tracks. Goodwood, Thruxton and others all suffer from the noise mafia.

Hello.

I am one of the Bedford 28 refered to in the first post. Yes, I have been banned from attending Bedford.

I'll state now that I do not have a problem with being banned, it is Dr Palmer's facility and he has the right to ban people for numerous reasons. Fair enough.

What I do have a problem with is the why part of the question. My car passed the static noise test, it passed the drive-by test and it passed the revised drive-by test. I was never discourteous to his staff or him. However I did participate in the threads listed above, always trying to be polite and considered in my replies (I reread tham this morning just to make sure). So, why am I banned? Because I expressed the opinion that the day was mishandled and that the situation was mismanaged.

Seems starnge that a company will ban customers without an explanation. Even the most surly nightclub bouncer will give you a reason for your eviction / non-entry to a club.

Also, Donington are in serious trouble for 2004 track days. Because they have, in the past, been lenient with noise limits, the local council have now imposed lower limits for 2004. The new lower noise limits will affect bikes more than cars, but, cars with sports exhausts will find themselves barred from most events.

Of course this seems unfair.

Why not write to Palmersport and get them to explain themselves. They may not backtrack out of principle, but maybe they will show some leniency.

It would be bizarre if trackday drivers couldn't comment on a venue in the UK without fear of being banned from it...

Read to the end of that first thread! Palmer has apologised if you have been unfairly excluded, and asked for you to give him a call. Can't say fairer than that, can you? He didn't come up with the list personally.
