Probably a FAQ track day question
Discussion
Another obvious answer. Whilst all machines bebefit from being worked - track day action is possibly a little too far to count as maintenance. Damage minimisation is the key - check everything before the day (typing track day check list into google will possibly bring some decent results).
Also, keep an eye on things as you go along. Temperature is a big one, as is a check on the oil level during rest periods.
OTOH, what are the consequences of something going wrong. I don't really want to take my every day car on the track any more (too many bent motors at the last wet day I did), so I've bought a race car instead. One thing is for certain, I will be on track next year! It just means being prepared for the potential consequences.
The final solution, which many on here are finding the most cost effective option, is to hire BAT's Caterham. If you are looking at doing a few days then it is possible to negociate (again do a search on this forum). As this car is specifically track focussed, you can possibly rent it for less than the wear and tear on your own stead.
